A lot of Crazy Stuff Went on this Week!

Hey everybody a lot of crazy stuff went on this week. So I
guess I'll start out with the bad first and work back up toward
the good.
This week a really good friend of mine that I met here in
the mission, Elder Justin McBride, from Washington DC, went
home from the mission.
Earlier in his mission, he was in an area called Tikisaih (i
don't know how to spell it exactly it's pronounced tee-kee-sighuh)
but he was standing on a street one day trying to signal
down a bus and there was a man on a motorcycle going the
opposite direction. The man on the motorcycle thought that
Elder McBride was trying to get his attention. So he wasn't
paying attention to the road and he got hit by the bus and died.
Elder McBride saw the whole thing and just broke down
there right in the street. With counseling from President Lopez,
and help, he stayed out here on the mission. He is a great
missionary.
But anyway, two weeks ago he started having flashbacks
to the same incident. He had to take some pretty strong
medication for anti-depression. The area that he was serving in
was El Puerto de La Libertad, right next to the beach. This past
week, on Wednesday he just took off in street clothes and ran
to the beach and was going to try and drown himself in the
Ocean. His companion, Elder Marin from Costa Rica, ran after
him and caught him before he did anything. We had to bring
him back to our house because that's where the zone leaders
live, and we had to give him severe narcotics to knock him out.
We had to watch him for two days; he got better to where he
was relatively normal, but he was having a really hard time
because of what he had gone through.
His parents came and picked him up on Friday to take him
back to the states.
If you could remember Elder McBride and keep him and
his family in your prayers, it would mean a whole lot to me.
He's going to try to come back out again after he gets some
treatment in the United States, but he needs all the help he can
get right now.
This past Saturday, we had a particularly scary experience.
Elder Ayala and I went to teach with some of the Sister
Missionaries in our district. {Elder Ayala is the district leader
and he wanted to know some of the investigators of Hermana
(sister) Poteet and Hermana (sister) Marroquin). But anyway,
we went and visited this girl named Christina who actually has a
baptismal date and apparently was really positive had already
gone to church and everything. We went there to watch the
Church film, Finding Faith in Christ with her and get to know her
and try to help her out with any doubts or questions that she
had. When we started sharing a lesson she went crazy! She
started laughing and started talking in nosotros (we) like there
was more than one person there. She said she couldn't touch
us because there were four of us and that if there were just the
sisters there she could. Then she said something really freaky
"vamos a ganar" which means "we are going to win". And she
would keep going in and out of normality and we just said
"that's it" and we gave her a blessing while she was in a
remotely stable situation and she was a little bit better. Then
we left. We were all pretty sure that there was a really bad
spirit there keeping her from listening to what we were
teaching her. I have never heard of that happening before. Now
I can personally say that the adversary is out there and really
this is a fight. It is a fight for the souls of the people. This truly is
bigger than just us.
Now, to the good. The next day we were able to give a
blessing to a really sick baby that really needed to go to the
hospital. The baby girl had a really high fever and was very sick;
she wouldn't stop crying. We decided to give her a Priesthood
Blessing. After we finished the blessing, she stopped crying and
vomiting, and shortly after, her fever went down too. This is the
first time that I have helped to take part in something like that.
So really this week I truly gained a great appreciation for
this gospel and this work. This truly is "The Work of Angels"Jeffery
R. Holland. Satan is out there and is working with all his
might. But even though he can have power to bruise our heels,
through The Gospel of Jesus Christ and through The Priesthood,
we can have power to crush his efforts, and overcome anything
that he throws in front of us as long as we have faith in Christ
and His Atonement.
Never forget that we never have to be alone. Jesus Christ
our Savior and Redeemer is there with us always. I know that
Heavenly Father is watching over our family and is guarding and
protecting us. We need to live worthy of that protection and
have the Holy Ghost with us always. I love you all so very much,
and appreciate your love and support every week.
